Abstract
Summary
Crystalline nicotinamide was isolated from cow blood under conditions which suggest that the compound was circulating in that chemical form. The concentration was estimated to be greater than 245 μg/ml of whole blood. From the work of others it seems probable that nicotinamide in circulation can serve as a precursor for synthesis of pyridine nucleotides in various tissues.
