Abstract
Summary
The administration of sulfobromophthalein (BSP) and indocyanine green (ICG) produced a decrease in bile flow, in the isolated perfused rat liver. A dose-related effect is shown for BSP while ICG, in equimolar concentrations, produced a more prolonged inhibitory effect on bile flow and rate of excretion. Possible mechanisms for the effect of these dyes on bile excretion are discussed.
