Abstract
Summary
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs were found to prevent heat-induced aggregation of bovine serum albumin (BSA), human gamma globulin (HGG), or rat gamma globulin (RGG) in vitro. Vitamin E and selenium, in the form of sodium selenite, also stabilized HGG or RGG. Neither vitamin E, sodium selenite, nor various combinations of these agents, when administered daily (ip) to polyarthritis rats, prevented the onset or development of the arthritis. Results are discussed briefly.
