Summary
The lordotic mutation in the guppy is associated with a lower accumulation of body calcium and increased incorporation of calcium into bone. Strontium incorporation is the same for both strains of fishes. These studies indicate a specific defect in calcium metabolism which may further an understanding of calcium metabolism and bone formation.
