Abstract
An iterative procedure is presented for the accurate design of the Helmholtz coils generating ELF magnetic fields used for the exposure of biological samples of different sizes. In this procedure, starting from an assigned magnetic field profile, local and global inverse problems are iteratively solved in sequence until a target precision in the obtained magnetic field profile is achieved. At this point the coil geometrical parameters and the associated current source intensities are available for the design.
