Abstract
In this paper, we developed a closed-form solution for anti-plane mechanical and in plane electric and magnetic fields in a magnetoelectroelastic layer of finite thickness. Explicit expressions for the stresses, electric fields, and magnetic field, together with their intensity factors and the energy release rate are obtained for the extreme cases of impermeable and permeable crack assumptions, including electrically impermeable and magnetically permeable crack assumption, electrically permeable and magnetically impermeable crack assumption, fully impermeable crack assumption, and fully permeable crack assumption. It is shown that the crack face electromagnetic boundary conditions have strong influence on the crack tip electromagnetic field intensity factors and energy release rate. The stress intensity factor, however, does not depend on the crack electromagnetic boundary condition assumptions. Using the basic solution for the single crack problem, solutions for the problems of two collinear cracks, a periodic array of parallel cracks, and two periodic arrays of parallel cracks are also given.
