For river-lake system, the riverbed topography and flow boundary are very complex. And it must meet small-scale and high-precision research requirement of navigable conditions. A plane 2D flow mathematical model is established for small-scale and large-range river-lake waterway system based on Mike21 software. It is validated by measured hydrological data. Then it is used to study the influence of the lake-control project on navigation conditions of the Dongting Lake. The results provide a scientific reference for the analysis of navigation benefits of the lake-control project.
