Factors Contributing to the Performance of Green Roofs and their Impact on Cooling Loads for a Composite Climate,Case Study: New Delhi

This article follows a three step process in evaluating factors contributing to the performance of green roof and their impact on cooling loads for a composite climate. The first step is to understand the impact of green roofs on ambient temperatures through literature review, followed by analysing the impact of different components of green roofs on cooling loads through the review. On the basis of the review, a thermal performance study is conducted on a shoebox model to understand the impact of different components of the green roof on cooling energy demand for New Delhi using Energy plus v 8.40 engine. Four iterations of green roofs have been evaluated to further analyse the impact of different combinations of soil depth, height of plants, and Leaf Area Index on the cooling energy demand.
