Abstract
Fault has a great effect on the buckling behavior of the buried steel pipeline. Bulking behavior of buried pipeline crossing the thrust fault was investigated by finite element method in this paper. And the effects of buried depth, radius–thickness ratio, fault displacement and layer on plastic strain of buried steel pipeline were discussed. The results show that there are two local buckling in both sides of the fault line, and the buckling modes are the same crossing the thrust fault in loess layer. The plastic strain of the steel pipeline increases gradually with the increasing of the fault displacement and radius–thickness ratio. Local buckling of pipeline with smaller radius–thickness ratio is lesser. The effect of buried depth on the plastic strain of the pipeline is small. Soil parameters have a great effect on the buckling behavior of the pipeline, and buckling mode in sandy layer is different with the loess layer and clay layer.
