Intervention in School and Clinic

This paper has attempted to provide practical pointers for teachers in preventing nutrition related learning problems. In the first part, suggestions for educating children on the importance of nutrition to learning are provided. Ideas at both the theoretical and practical levels are included. Particular emphasis is placed in the use of the Basic Four Food Guide. In the second part, an Appearance, Behaviors, Complaints (A,B,C) checklist for identification of nutritionally deprived learners is presented. We propose that such tools will provide a systematic base for improved nutritional programming at home and at school.
