Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development

Four maltreatment items were examined from Wave III (N = 13,516) of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. Item analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, cross-validation, reliability estimates, and convergent validity coefficients strongly supported the validity of using the four items as a unidimensional composite. Implications for education and practice are discussed.

The purpose of this article was to develop the Satisfaction With Sex Life Scale (SWSLS). Scores from the SWSLS have favorable psychometric properties. Cronbach’s α was .92. Evidence based on relations to other variables was examined. Suggestions concerning the use of the SWSLS for research and clinical purposes are offered.

Psychometric properties of the Almost Perfect Scale and the Family Almost Perfect Scale were evaluated using Indian college students studying in India (N = 132). Three classes of perfectionists—adaptive, maladaptive, and nonperfectionists—that mirrored past studies were compared on self-esteem and depression.

Latent class analyses were used to identify subsets of 217 12-year-old youth with early maltreatment histories based on youth and caregiver reports of externalizing behavior problems. The identified classes were validated using symptom counts and diagnoses for disruptive behavior disorders collected from youth and caregiver reports 2 years later.
