Abstract
Abstract
Two thirds of Americans are overweight or obese. Holistic care for the obese client is imperative to promote the self-regulated healing needed to make lifestyle transformations following bariatric surgery. The healthcare environment may be the pivotal point of a client's lifestyle transformation. An optimal caring and healing environment (OCHE) integrates the ARTS (A = aesthetic, R = recreational movement, T = therapeutic, and S = spiritual) modalities with best practice guidelines and toolkits to promote quality bariatric care. Over 194 guidelines and 20 toolkits exist to promote an OCHE for quality obesity care.
