Abstract

I
The focus of volume three is focal image guided diagnosis and therapy which is an exciting area of advance that further decreases morbidity during precise guided treatment of malignancy. Ablative energies described include cryoablation, radiofrequency, high intensity focused ultrasound and microwave. Other areas of minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic robot assisted surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and endourolgic surgery are also covered to add to the procedures already described in the first two volumes of the Atlas.
The publication of this volume celebrates the 35th anniversary of the Journal of Endourology, the only peer reviewed international journal for all aspects of minimally invasive urologic surgery and the journal of the Endourological Society. There has been remarkable progress in the field and we look forward to exponential growth of procedures with less invasiveness and improved outcomes. This issue is dedicated to the founding Editors of the journal, Drs. Arthur D. Smith and Ralph V. Clayman, whose vision and dedication to the journal and the field is remarkable.
