Introduction to Volume 3 of the Atlas

I am delighted to present the third volume of the Atlas of Videourology, which adds to the comprehensive educational online destination for technique in minimally invasive urologic surgery. Each article includes a detailed description and video of the procedure including step by step instruction, alternate techniques and troubleshooting tips. The Atlas also has links to appropriate videos from the archives of Videourology- the peer reviewed collection of urologic surgical videos. Modules from all three volumes will be easily accessible from one online location.

The focus of volume three is focal image guided diagnosis and therapy which is an exciting area of advance that further decreases morbidity during precise guided treatment of malignancy. Ablative energies described include cryoablation, radiofrequency, high intensity focused ultrasound and microwave. Other areas of minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic robot assisted surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and endourolgic surgery are also covered to add to the procedures already described in the first two volumes of the Atlas.

The publication of this volume celebrates the 35^th anniversary of the Journal of Endourology, the only peer reviewed international journal for all aspects of minimally invasive urologic surgery and the journal of the Endourological Society. There has been remarkable progress in the field and we look forward to exponential growth of procedures with less invasiveness and improved outcomes. This issue is dedicated to the founding Editors of the journal, Drs. Arthur D. Smith and Ralph V. Clayman, whose vision and dedication to the journal and the field is remarkable.
