Abstract

2022 Virtual Lymphatic Summit
The 2022 Virtual Lymphatic Summit, Lymphatic Disease: The Clinician/Patient Interface in State-of-the-Art Diagnosis and Management, will take place on Friday, September 30, 2022. It will be a forum for LE&RN's Centers of Excellence and the lymphatic disease community. Visit LymphaticNetwork.org for details as they become available. CME credits will be available!
2022 Boston Lymphatic Symposium
The Boston Lymphatic Center, a joint program between the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Boston Children's Hospital, teaching affiliates of Harvard Medical School, will host the 2022 Boston Lymphatic Symposium! The Boston Lymphatic Center is a Comprehensive Center of Excellence and the symposium is held in partnership with the Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN).
This year's patient symposium is about “Life in Balance with Lymphedema” and will be held on October 1, 2022, at the Salve Regina University, 100 Ochre Point Avenue in Newport, RI. More information is given at (https://bostonlymphaticsymposium.org/).
LE&RN Symposiums
On June 6, LE&RN hosted Holistic Treatment for Lipedema: You Can Make It Better, a free Zoom symposium presented by Catherine Seo, PhD; Leslyn Keith, OTD, CLT-LANA; and Matthew Carmody, MD. On June 1, Roman Skoracki, MD, presented Head and Neck Lymphedema. These symposiums, along with every past symposium, are available on LE&RN's website at (https://lymphaticnetwork.org/symposium-series).
2022 Fellows Course in Venous Disease
The American Venous Forum's Fellows Course in Venous Disease will be held in September 22–24, 2022, at the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle, WA. This unique non-CME program led by a faculty of experts in the field features a highly interactive environment and small group hands-on workshops within an informal collegial atmosphere—making these programs very popular. More information can be found at (https://lymphaticnetwork.org/news-events/2022-fellows-course-in-venous-disease).
LE&RN Creates Lymphatic Researcher Database for the National Institutes of Health
At the request of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), LE&RN has created a Lymphatic Researcher Database (https://lymphaticnetwork.org/treating-lymphedema/researchers) to keep NIH informed of the lymphatic research being pursued worldwide. LE&RN now needs all lymphatic researchers to submit information for this webpage by contacting LE&RN at (LERN@LymphaticNetwork.org). Research names, institutions, Pub Med weblinks, and brief research descriptions will appear on this page, searchable by name, institution, or topic. This initiative grew out of the efforts of the Trans-NIH Lymphatics Coordinating Committee.
Centers of Excellence Virtual Lymphatic Summit 2021 Now Open Access
LE&RN's 2021 Virtual Summit, The Continuum from Evolving Research to State-of-the-Art Lymphatic Management, is now available for open-access viewing. The rapidly evolving world of lymphatic research is already creating a substantial impact upon the practice of lymphatic medicine. The 2021 State-of-the-Art Lymphatic Summit highlights the interface between the investigative process and the optimal current management of lymphatic patients. Evolving concepts and unanswered questions are emphasized. For instant access: (https://learn.regfox.com/wld-2021-virtual-lymphatic-summit-admission).
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Cancer-Related Lymphedema Public Service Announcements
Thanks to a 3-year Chronic Disease Awareness Grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, LE&RN has begun distributing public service announcements (PSAs) to television stations across the country. The PSAs are narrated by LE&RN spokesperson and academy award winner Kathy Bates and actor Steve Guttenberg. Each of the seven produced PSAs focuses on cancer-related lymphedema prevention and treatment.
