Lymphatic Community Represented by LE&RN at Chronic Disease Day Capitol Hill Luncheon
LE&RN's President and CEO, William Repicci, was a guest speaker at the Chronic Disease Day Capitol Hill Luncheon on July 12 in Washington, DC. The event honored Congressman Pete Sessions (TX) and Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett (VI) as outstanding champions for the chronic and rare disease community. Chronic Disease Day is a national awareness campaign that shares people's stories and voices to advocate lowering the number of preventable illnesses, advancing access to care for unpreventable conditions, and building healthier communities. We congratulate the team at Good Days, which sponsored the event. Visit https://chronicdiseaseday.org/to learn more.
Lymphatic Surgery Policy Article Selected for PRS Journal Club Podcast Feature
Creating a Policy for Coverage of Lymphatic Surgery: Addressing a Critical Unmet Need, coauthored by Kathy Bates, William Repicci, and Dr. Dhruv Singhal, was selected to be featured on PRS Journal Club Podcast.
“I think the authors are to be applauded for taking a really rigorous approach to demonstrating criteria for lymphedema intervention, particularly for engaging insurance carriers. This type of approach, in my opinion, could really serve as a template for redress of coverage for procedures deemed to be experimental.”—Dr. Suhail Mithani, associate professor of plastic and orthopedic surgery at Duke University
Visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvM3MY1JPQg to listen to the podcast episode where Dr. Mithani and the 2023 Resident Ambassadors to the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Editorial Board discuss the article. The open-access article is also available to read for free at https://journals.lww.com/plasreconsurg/Fulltext/2023/07000/Creating_a_Policy_for_Coverage_of_Lymphatic.45.aspx.
