This work reports studies on the heat transfer in two dimensions through epoxy based fire resistant coatings. A model has been developed to pre dict the temperature and surface thickness profiles of a coating material when subjected to an impinging jet flame. The model was tested for two different types of coatings tested under the same conditions. Predictions from the model com pared very favourably with the experimental results except for those cases where delamination of the coating from the substrate occurred.
