Abstract
Director inclusivity coaching may assist organizations with diverse boards to benefit from improved decision-making, innovation and increased shareholder value. Our qualitative analysis of semi-structured interviews with 15 experienced coaches from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Germany explores key aspects of (1) coaching board directors and (2) director inclusivity coaching. Using reflexive thematic analysis, we identified three themes: “privileges and challenges,” “paradoxes and dilemmas,” and “inclusivity requires action.” The study adds to the body of academic research into coaching directors, bringing insights to the profession to assist coaches in reflecting and challenging their own perceptions and identifying relevant areas for further research.
