Abstract
In September, George David Weiss granted MEJ an interview, upon which this article is based. Weiss, a native New Yorker, attended Seward Park High School, City College of New York, and Brooklyn College before studying at Juilliard Music School. He currently resides in New Jersey with his wife, Claire. His musical career includes experience in playing, conducting, and arranging for big bands and dance orchestras; composing hit songs sung by artists including Frank Sinatra, Nat Cole, and Patti Page; and writing music for Hollywood and Broadway. As president of the Songwriters Guild of America since 1982, Weiss frequently appears before Congress to fight for legislation crucial to the well-being of his fellow American songwriters.
