Abstract
One of Japan's preeminent music conservatories, Musashino Academia Musicae, in Tokyo, is currently celebrating its sixtieth year. Kiyoshi Miyamoto, a staff member of the academy, and Jocelyn Carmichael, who spent a year there as a visiting professor of singing and now teaches at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, offer an in-depth look at the life of the school's extraordinary founder, Naoaki Fukui.
