Abstract
In order to identify the parasitoids that attack fruit flies of the genus Anastrepha Schiner and to establish the associations between them and their hosts in natural conditions, biweekly sampling was conducted from November 2003 to July 2005 in Cerro Jefe and Altos de Pacora, Panama. Six species of parasitoids was identified: Doryctobracon zeteki (Muesebeck), D. crawfordi (Viereck), D. areolatus (Szépligeti), D. capsicola (Muesebeck), D. auripennis (Muesebeck) and Opius bellus Gahan. Five Anastrepha species reared from five plant families were parasitized. The most abundant parasitoid was D. zeteki which represented 49% of total individuals; D. crawfordi with 19.48% and D. areolatus was the least abundant with 2.59%. A. serpentina (Wiedemann) and A. anomala Stone were the hosts with the highest number of parasitoids in fruits of Pouteria buenaventurensis (Aubrév.) Pilz and Lacmellea panamensis (Woodson) Markgr. D. capsicola was reared from A. serpentina and A. anomala, as well as D. auripennis from A. serpentina; all are new host records. There is a dependent relationship between parasitoid species and Anastrepha species (χβ = 80, p < 0.05, gl = 20). P. buenaventurensis is a new host plant record for A. serpentina.
