Abstract
This paper presents a dual-rotor electrical machine, designed with grain-oriented electrical steel sheets and Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets. In order to achieve high performance within limited volume, we have tried to increase the magnetic loading by using rare earth permanent magnets in the dual-rotor construction. The use of grain-oriented electrical steel sheets is preferred instead of usual non-oriented sheets in order to let flow high magnetic flux through the core material, avoiding the magnetic saturation. The two-dimensional vector magnetic properties in the dual-rotor core model are analyzed by using the finite element method with the E&SS modeling. The calculated results are compared with measured results on the prototype machine for verification of the designing.
